NICEIC & ECS
We are members of the ‘NIC EIC’ organisation. The NICEIC is a customer safety organisation set up in 1956 to protect users of electricity against unsound electrical installations. The organisation is a charity and therefore does not make a profit.
NICEIC staff consists of highly trained engineers who regularly inspect and report on samples of work carried out by every approved contractor. Premises, equipment and the qualifications of staff are also taken into consideration.
Electrical Installation Services Limited has been awarded accreditation from Safecontractor for its commitment to achieving excellence in health and safety. Safecontractor is a leading third party accreditation scheme which recognises very high standards in health and safety management amongst UK contractors.
Under the Safecontractor scheme, businesses undergo a vetting process which examines health and safety procedures and their track record for safe practice. Those companies meeting the high standard are included on a database, which is accessible to registered users only via a website.
Client-organisations who sign up to the scheme can access the database, enabling them to vet potential contractors before they even set foot on site. These clients agree that, as users of the scheme, they will engage only those who have received accreditation. Over 210 major, nation-wide businesses, from several key sectors, have signed up to use the scheme when selecting contractors for services such as building, cleaning, maintenance, refurbishment or electrical and mechanical work.
BENEFITS OF USING AN NICEIC-REGISTERED CONTRACTOR
NICEIC has been assessing the technical competence of electricians for over 50 years. Their aim is to protect everyone who uses electricity from unsafe electrical installations anywhere. To achieve this, they maintain a register of qualified, competent electricians of which we are one.
Their contractors become registered with NICEIC, they are re-assessed on a regular basis to ensure high standards.
The main benefits of using a contractor registered by NICEIC like us include:
Safety and competence
Electricians registered by NICEIC are assessed on a regular basis to ensure that they are competent and capable of meeting the relevant technical and safety standards, codes of practice and rules of the Schemes they are registered to.
Insurance Backed Warranty
The NICEIC Insurance Backed Warranty covers work done by contractors registered to the NICEIC Part P Domestic Installer Scheme that is notifiable to Building Control. Should any work be found not to comply with the Building Regulations and where the contractor is no longer in business they will have the work rectified by another NICEIC contractor at no extra cost.
Prove your competence with the ECS card
All EIS Engineers have an ECS card.
It’s now almost impossible to gain access to a construction site without proof of identification, your competence and qualification levels.
Holding an ECS card means our engineers can prove their identity, their qualified status and their occupation when working on-site. It is affiliated to the Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS). So when people say that you need a CSCS card – this ECS card is the one that’s relevant to our Industry.
Our Engineers also have IPAF, Compex EX01-04, Asbestos awareness, COSH, Fire awareness, Confined spaces and much more. We are in the process of applying for safe contractor.
